BusyBee's Check My Understanding tool enables students to assess their knowledge through interactive, non-graded quizzes based on an activity's content. The practice questions provide instant feedback that reinforces student learning.

BusyBee is a Buzz Add-on, currently enabled only for select pilot customers

Students reinforce learning independently with Check My Understanding

When the Check My Understanding tool is available for an activity type, a button appears below the activity's content. Answering Check My Understanding questions does not impact your grade. They are there only to reinforce your learning.

  1. Click the button to start.
  1. BusyBee generates a question for you to answer.
  2. When you've answered the question, click Check answer to see how you did.
  1. BusyBee shows the right answer and gives immediate feedback based on your answer.
  2. Click Try another question if you want to keep answering questions (10 total).
  3. Click Close at any time to return to the activity.

Students can reinforce learning and assess their progress with Check My Understanding:

  • Review immediate feedback: Read the feedback closely to better understand the content and whether there are concepts you've misunderstood or should study closer.
  • Track your progress: Use the tool regularly to solidify the concepts and gauge improvement over time.

 

Parents, teachers, and other observers can support learning with Check My Understanding:

  • Preview questions for accuracy: Use the tool when previewing activities to ensure questions align with the learning objectives.
  • Encourage consistent practice: Motivate students to use the tool to reinforce concepts and promote independent learning.
  • Collaborative learning: Use Check My Understanding together, so you can get a sense of how the student is doing and where they might need help.

Which activity types does Check My Understanding work with?

Check My Understanding is supported by the following Activity types when they are not gradable:

  • Assignments
  • Custom Activity
  • Embedded code
  • File attachment
  • Google Drive documents
  • Website links
  • Rich-text activity
  • YouTube videos

To generate responses, Check My Understanding require at least 50 words of total, relevant content to be present between the following items in an activity:

Check My Understanding requires text-based activity content. This is particularly important to remember with media content like YouTube videos or file attachments that are images.
