Say 👋 hello to BusyBee, your AI-powered learning & teaching companion for Buzz. Learn more!

As previously announced, stronger password requirements for observer accounts in Buzz are now in effect as of October 19, 2026.
Observer passwords are now checked against known compromised passwords on sign in and must meet Buzz's increased password strength requirements.
What this means for observers
If your observer password doesn't meet the new requirements, Buzz asks you to update it when you sign in. You'll need to choose a new password before you can continue.
When you change or reset your password, Buzz checks whether the new password:
- Meets the required level of password complexity
- Has appeared in known password breach data
The Password strength indicator shows how strong your new password is. If the password appears in a public list of hacked passwords, Buzz warns you to pick a different one.

Note: This change doesn't affect users who sign in through SSO with credentials managed by an external identity provider. If a user also has Buzz credentials and signs in directly to Buzz, the new password requirements apply.
Create a strong password
Buzz doesn't require a specific password format. For example, you don't need a set number of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, or symbols. You can meet the requirement in different ways, such as by using a longer password, a broader mix of characters, or a less predictable phrase.

For administrators
Student password requirements are still managed entirely at the domain level, because students range in age and access needs. For all other roles, domain administrators can make password requirements stricter, but can't relax them below the minimums set by Agilix.

Why we made this change
Compromised or easy-to-guess passwords can put observer accounts at risk. This update helps protect observers and the students they support by preventing passwords that are known to be unsafe or don't meet current security standards.
