Password protection updates for Administrators and Teachers in Buzz
As previously announced, we are in the process of updating password security requirements for administrator and teacher accounts in Buzz.
On August 14, Teachers will be required to update their password to one that meets the new requirements before they can continue signing in.

Automated safety monitoring & blocking for Get Help conversations
BusyBee Get Help conversations now include the same automated safety monitoring, blocking, and teacher/admin notification tools as Chat activities, extending a safety model already trusted by educators and administrators to student AI interactions across the platform.
This update is part of our ongoing commitment to delivering AI-powered features that support teaching, learning, and productivity in ways that are safe, transparent, and responsible.

Streamlined BusyBee Chat activities
In BusyBee Chat activities, users can now access conversation tools from an Actions menu next to the message field, making them accessible without scrolling to the top of the activity.

OAuth authentication support
We now support OAuth authentication for Buzz API. This model is designed to support automated API processes while improving long-term security and alignment with stronger account protection options.
This is not currently required, but our long-term security plan includes deprecating support for ‘Login3’ for integrations. Adopting this model as soon as possible will prepare you for that change and give you improved security and performance: OAuth 2.0 Application Identity
In order to support adoption of the faster and more secure model, we have published complete, runnable code samples in 7 languages that use OAuth to call the Buzz API: Sample Code - xLi
- OAuth is 3x faster than 'Login3' and satisfies MFA requirements.
- The samples properly handle retry with exponential backoff.
Buzz updates
In this release, we:
- Added a note to the Accommodations card in Administrator > Users > User details clarifying that some assessment accommodations may not be supported by all assessments.
- Improved text-spacing support for accessibility in the Add Activity editor.
- Improved keyboard accessibility of the error dialog shown throughout Buzz.
- Improved keyboard and screen-reader accessibility of the Objective Mastery tab in the student Gradebook.
- Improved heading hierarchy in various places to support accessibility.
- Improved reflow in the login screen to support accessibility.
- Improved keyboarding in the Calendar to support accessibility.
Buzz fixes
In this release, we also:
- Fixed an issue where the Activity Editor in Multi-Outcome Scoring courses could become unresponsive when the activity referenced a scoring objective that no longer existed on the course.
- Fixed an issue where observers viewing a student's Chat activity could type and attempt to send a message, resulting in an error.
Buzz APIs
Updates in version 2026.8.6.3653.
Additions, Removals, or Changes:
- Added limited support for xmlns in JSON POST data sent to our APIs. This support enables setting
securehashandsecretkeyin domain data. - Added Data Stream events to notify subscribers when a data stream's configuration is changed, including when they are turned off, so it doesn't go silently unnoticed. New events include:

- Added additional context to API documentation about Data Streams, including:
- A “How This Event Is Triggered” section in Data Stream event documents that references triggering APIs.

- Updated the Dashboard and My enrollments pages to display enrollments that have pending prerequisite completion
- Fixed fallback notification behavior for already saved non-US phone numbers
