Early access: Improve security with OAuth-based API authentication
We are introducing a more secure OAuth-based model for Buzz API authentication. This model is designed to support automated API processes while improving long-term security and alignment with stronger account protection options.
This change is not yet required and does not impact existing automated API processes. Over time, OAuth-based authentication will become the recommended path for integrations and other automated API usage.
We are looking for customers to help test the migration experience
Participating customers will help validate the workflow and documentation, and our team will work directly with them to support a successful migration.

Buzz updates
In this releas, we:
- Updated the Notes panel to better support accessibility reflow.
- Updated the layout of Matching Categorization drag-and-drop questions when Choices Orientation is set to Bottom. Choices were previously displayed in a row, which could require users to scroll horizontally. Choices now display in a column to avoid horizontal scrolling.
Buzz fixes
In this release, we also:
- Fixed an issue where the Highlighter Assessment tool wouldn't allow highlighting text outside of a question in Assessment templates.
- Fixed an issue where some student time spent on an assessment was not recorded on the Student > Activity screen if the student closed the tab immediately after submitting the assessment.
- Resolved a layout issue in assessments where answer choices for Matching drag-and-drop questions did not wrap correctly, causing a horizontal scrollbar to appear on narrow screens.
- Resolved an issue with incorrectly storing an absolute path to activity thumbnail images when making edits in the Activity editor.
- Resolved an issue with incorrectly storing an absolute path to profile pictures when changing User settings which could result in the image appearing broken to other users.

- Data stream additions: Added Security-focused Data Stream Events to proactively detect intrusions.
- Data stream additions: Added the following attributes for inclusion with Enrollment grades created and Enrollment grades changed events: User ID, Course ID, Item Title, Item Parent ID, Item Type, Raw Achieved. Raw Possible, Scored Date, Submitted Date, Due Date, First Activity Date, Last Activity Date

Dawn Release Notes
A round-up of all improvements and changes to the Dawn platform version 2026.0624.233323, available on June 25, 2026.
Dawn now supports WhatsApp verification
You can now use WhatsApp as an account identifier and verification channel in Dawn.
Alongside Email and Phone, users can choose WhatsApp when signing in, creating an account, resetting a password, or verifying account information. Dawn also remembers each users last selected sign-in method for a faster return experience.
- Users can add, verify, update, or remove their WhatsApp ID from Account Settings.
- Administrators can include WhatsApp IDs when inviting or enrolling users.
- Bulk user import and the enrollment-invite wizard now support WhatsApp IDs.
- WhatsApp IDs appear in learner and enrollment lists, learner details, and CSV exports to support easier user management and reporting.
