Buzz Release Notes
A round-up of all improvements and changes to the Buzz platform, version 3.0.529 available on August 20, 2026.
Adopt OAuth authentication to support admin MFA enforcement
We now support OAuth authentication for Buzz API. This model is designed to support automated API processes while improving long-term security and alignment with stronger account protection options.
While this is not currently required, our long-term security plan includes deprecating support for ‘Login3’ for integrations. Adopting this model as soon as possible will prepare you for that change, give you improved security and performance, and allow you to enforce MFA for admin accounts.

In order to support adoption of the faster and more secure model, we have published complete, runnable code samples in 7 languages that use OAuth to call the Buzz API: Sample Code - xLi
- OAuth is 3x faster than 'Login3' and satisfies MFA requirements.
- The samples properly handle retry with exponential backoff.

Buzz updates
In this release, we:
- Updated the primary color used in the Grey theme for buttons to a darker shade, improving its readability as a primary action.
- Improved keyboard accessibility of the Calendar's day view.
- Updated Calendar due date markers to include a course-title abbreviations in addition to the course color, improving accessibility and making it easier to identify the associated course. The same markers appear next to course titles in the Calendar list for a clear visual connection.
- Improved screen reader accessibility of the Student > Course home > To-do list tab.
- Improved keyboard accessibility of the assessment player's answer eliminator.
- Improved reflow and keyboard accessibility for assessments.
- Improved reflow and keyboard accessibility in Rubrics.
- Improved keyboard accessibility of Discussions.
- Improved keyboard accessibility of graphic hotspot questions.
Buzz fixes
In this release, we also:
- Fixed an issue where the two checkbox previews on the Choose theme screen could keep the previous theme's secondary color instead of updating to the newly selected theme.
- Fixed an issue where selecting Back (or a breadcrumb) from an activity preview in the Library did not return to the previous page. and could occasionally cause the browser to hang.
- Fixed an issue where adding, editing, or removing an entry in several Domain settings cards, including Blackout dates, did not appear until the page was saved and refreshed.
- Resolved style issues and error reporting on single sign on login page.
- Fixed an issue where making two privilege changes to a custom role within a short window could apply them out of order.

- Made general security improvements.
