Let's dive in and see how these tools can make your grading process smoother and more efficient!

Traditional Grading Methods

  • Performance/Gradebook Tool: The Performance/Gradebook tool is a powerful tool for teachers to track student progress in many areas, enabling teachers to enter and edit grades, review objective mastery and personalized activities, and run a variety of reports.
  • Gradebook Reports: These reports are organized around individual activities or activity categories and time periods, allowing teachers to track student progress at different levels.
  • Activity Grader:  This tool allows teachers to grade individual student submissions and provide feedback. It includes features like quick-edit grading, curving scores, and batch updating scores.
  • Grade Editor:  Provides a detailed view of a student's activity submission, score history, and class statistics. Teachers can enter scores, provide feedback messages, and manage due dates for individual students.
  • Final Grades:  Allows teachers to submit final grades for students, including the option to add comments.

Mastery-Based Grading Methods

  • Objective Mastery:  Teachers can import educational standards, align them with activities, and track student mastery of specific objectives. This data can be used to personalize learning paths and provide targeted interventions.
  • Standards-Based Grading (SBG):  Buzz offers a dedicated SBG gradebook that emphasizes student proficiency against specific learning standards. Teachers can track student progress, visualize trends, and communicate performance effectively using this tool.
  • Mastery Reports: Provide insights into student mastery of objectives, allowing teachers to identify areas where students may need additional support.

Additional Grading Features and Options

  • Grading Periods: Teachers can assign gradable activities to specific grading periods, enabling them to track and report student progress throughout the school year. Grading periods can be set up at the domain level by system administrators or at the course level by teachers.
  • Grade Scales:  Teachers can choose from various grade scales, such as letter grades, pass/fail, or create custom scales to fit their grading needs.
  • Grade Categories:  Activities can be categorized for better organization and reporting within the gradebook.
  • Rubrics:  Teachers can create rubrics to guide grading for manually graded activities and essay questions. Domain-wide rubrics can also be created by administrators and used as templates by teachers.
  • Personalized Activities:  Buzz facilitates personalized learning through features like choice activities, self-assigned tasks, and teacher-assigned Clipboard tasks. Teachers can track and grade these personalized activities using the For Me screen in the Gradebook tool.
  • Feedback Messages: Teachers can send feedback messages to students at any time, providing timely support and guidance. These messages can be sent through the Grade Editor.
  • Badges:  Teachers can create and award badges to students to recognize achievements, reinforce desired behaviors, and personalize learning. Badges can be awarded manually or automatically upon activity completion.
