How do I set up and review audio/video submissions?

  • Buzz maintains a 50MB upload limit per file.
  • We recommend uploading files that are no longer than three minutes in length regardless of the file size.

Ask for Audio and Video submission in Assignments

You can ask your students to easily create and submit short (up to three minutes) audio/video projects.

To set up audio/video submissions:

  1. Create an Assignment activity.
  2. In the Settings tab > Gradebook and submission card, check the This activity is gradable box.
  3. In the Allowed submission types dropdown menu, select Audio and/or Video.
  4. Add content and configure your activity.

Note: Check the Allow multiple attachments to allow students to upload more than one Audio or Video attachment or to allow students to upload more than one Submission type if you have selected more than one.

When students open the activity, they click the + Audio and + Video buttons to add what they want.

For both Submission types, they can choose to Record or Upload the media.

When you review audio/video submissions with the Grade Editor or Activity Grader, the audio/video files appear in the Content tab.

Assign audio/video Essay questions

Your students can record and upload audio or video responses to Essay questions, by using the Audio or Video button in the rich text editor. They can choose to do this on their own, or you can instruct them to.

When you review audio/video essay submissions with the Grade Editor or Activity Grader, the audio/video files appear in the Content tab.

Audio/video assessment workspace submissions

For some assessment questions, you can choose to display a workspace where students can record work and notes. This appears as a rich text editor field below the question.

Your students can record and upload audio or video responses as part of these workspace notes using the rich text editor. They can choose to do this on their own, or you can instruct them to.

To provide this workspace in an assessment question for students, check the Display workspace box in the Interaction card. The following question types allow this feature: Fill in the blank, Matching, Multiple answer, Multiple choice, and Ordering.

Review audio/video workspace submissions

When you review questions with audio/video Workspace submissions using the Grade Editor or Activity Grader, the audio/video files appear in the Content tab under the question.
