How do I use the People tool?

Be a people person.

Navigate to the People tool using the Main Menu. With this tool, you can:

  1. Filter results by Grading period if enabled.
  2. Use Display Options to choose what information to display.
  3. Email students and observers.
  4. Open the Tools menu to:
  5. Filter your students using the funnel (filter) icon.
  6. Add students to the Clipboard.
  7. Open the Clipboard.
  8. Click a student's name to open their Grades screen.

Filter your students

Click the funnel (filter) icon to show/hide a menu that allows you to filter by:

  1. Student Name
  2. Quick list or group of students
  3. Minimum score and Maximum score
  4. Minimum progress and Maximum progress
  5. Critical students, meaning students who have failed 2 of their last five submissions or they are failing the course, and/or have 30% or more of gradable items past due.

The People tool gives you at-a-glance access to tons of student data points in one simple table that you can use to track student progress and provide help where it’s needed.

How do you turn this off for teachers? Do all elements have to be turned off or just a few?

Lyn, it depends upon what you are wanting to turn off. If you want to turn off the entire People tool, and admin can hide it. Some of the features (i.e., Invite Students) requires specific permissions to have.

As the Admin., where do I go in settings to allow the teachers to be able to invite students to their courses?

Great question, Kandle. For a teacher to be able to invite students to their courses, they must be granted a few domain permissions to the domain that the students exist in and the domain they log into (likely the same).

They must have the permissions on the domain to Users: Read to invite users or enroll them into their courses. If you want the teacher to be able to create a user in addition to enrolling them, they must also have the ability to Users: Create.
