I checked the "Automatically assign zero scores to past-due activities" option in my course settings. I have had due dates pass now, but only a few students are getting automatic zeros and the rest remain ungraded (not including the ones that submitted and received grades from me). Does it not score activities as zero that have been started but not submitted by a student?
I am having the same problem. It has been working sporadically and every time I log in more kids will show the zero. Earlier in the year it was working great. Hoping Aglix will provide a response because I see that others are also posting about this.

Yes! The auto zero feature has been very clunky. I have been having to uncheck and recheck the option in course settings for it to come through.

If the student is currently working in the activity it will not flunk it.
