Coming Aug 17, 2026: Increased password strength requirements for teachers
As previously announced, we are in the process of updating password security requirements for administrator and teacher accounts in Buzz.
On Monday, August 17, Teachers will be required to update their password to one that meets the new requirements before they can continue signing in.
If you see a warning on login, indicating that your password does not meet the requirements, you should update your password before August 17 to avoid being required to do so when signing in after that date.

OAuth authentication support
We now support OAuth authentication for Buzz API. This model is designed to support automated API processes while improving long-term security and alignment with stronger account protection options.
This is not currently required, but our long-term security plan includes deprecating support for ‘Login3’ for integrations. Adopting this model as soon as possible will prepare you for that change and give you improved security and performance: OAuth 2.0 Application Identity
In order to support adoption of the faster and more secure model, we have published complete, runnable code samples in 7 languages that use OAuth to call the Buzz API: Sample Code - xLi
- OAuth is 3x faster than 'Login3' and satisfies MFA requirements.
- The samples properly handle retry with exponential backoff.
Buzz updates
In this release, we:
- Improved keyboard accessibility by giving buttons a visible outline when focused on using the keyboard.
- Made accessibility improvements to the following places:
- Improved keyboard and screen-reader accessibility of the Student > Grades >Objective Mastery table.
- Improved keyboard and reflow accessibility in the Review questions assessment tool for students.
- Improved screen-reader and reflow accessibility in the Calendar.
- Improved screen-reader accessibility in the Assessment player.
- Made general security updates.
- Updated the Blackout Dates editors to include a Range indicator and to change the End date to match the Start date to make setting dates easier.
- Expanded the Choose theme preview page to show more UI toolbar icons and buttons to better represent all UI elements.
Buzz fixes
In this release, we also:
- Fixed an issue in domains using Standards-based grading where the Proficiency calculation method label was truncated to Proficiency calculation me on the Standards-based grading card in Domain settings.
- Fixed an issue where previewing activities from the Library could intermittently fail to load, depending on which activity type was opened first.
- Fixed an issue with Group inheritance where students with enrollment customizations in courses with group-based customizations could see duplicated folders and activities in their gradebook and activity list.
- Fixed an issue where an observer could get an Access Denied error when opening a student's BusyBee Chat activity or Get Help conversation before the student had started one.
