How do I set up Multi-Outcome Scoring in a course?

The Multi-Outcome Scoring gradebook allows course authors to create multiple desired outcomes for students, align them to activities with varied weights, and track performance against them.

Enable Multi-Outcome Scoring in your course

If available in your domain, you can easily enable and start using Buzz's Multi-Outcome Scoring gradebook.

  1. Open the Editor tool.
  2. Select Course settings from Tools in the toolbar.
  1. Click Enable Multi-Outcome Scoring on the Multi-outcome scoring card.

  1. Select the scoring outcomes you want to import. If scoring objectives exist in your domain, Buzz automatically opens an Import Scoring Outcomes window. If not, you can Add your own scoring objectives.
  2. click Done.
  3. Save your Course settings.

Add scoring objectives

There are two options when adding scoring objectives:

Create new outcome

You can create your own scoring objectives at the course level, but keep in mind that they do not roll up across courses. Imported scoring objectives that are defined at the domain level do roll up.

  1. Open the Editor tool.
  2. Select Course settings from Tools in the toolbar.
  1. Click Add scoring outcome in the Multi-Outcome Scoring card.
  1. Click Create new outcome.
  1. Provide a Title and Description in the appropriate fields.
  2. Click box in the Color column to choose the objective's representative color.
  3. Indicate the grading Weight you want this objective to have in relation to the other objectives.
  4. Click Done to save the objective and Remove this scoring outcome to delete it.
  1. Once new objectives are saved, you can click on them to edit them and use the up and down arrows to reorder them.
  2. Save your Course settings.

Use pre-defined outcome

  1. Open the Editor tool.
  2. Select Course settings from Tools in the toolbar.
  1. Click Add scoring outcome in the Multi-Outcome Scoring card.
  1. Click Use pre-defined outcome.
  1. Check the box(es) next to the outcome(s) you want to add.
  2. Click Done.
  1. Once new outcomes are saved, you can click on them to edit them and use the up and down arrows to reorder them.
  2. Save your Course settings.

Disable Multi-Outcome Scoring

  1. Open the Editor tool.
  2. Select Course settings from Tools in the toolbar.
  1. On the Multi-outcome scoring card, select each scoring objective.
  1. Click Remove this scoring outcome to delete and click Done.
  2. Once all scoring objectives are removed, Save your Course settings.
