Students Getting Timed Out

Students are being logged out of Buzz mid-assessment. Is it possible there is a network idle time or could this be a network domain settings issue?

Hello Aaron!

It is hard to tell without being able to further troubleshoot the issue. When you stated it logs the user out of Buzz does it direct the user to the Buzz login page, or, are they presented with a dialogue message?

It may be more helpful to have your organization submit a ticket to Agilix Support if this is needing to be resolved quicker.

Some things that could be at issue are:

  • Idle timeout set too low at the domain settings or on a CAS server.
  • Poor internet/network connection
  • User's computer went to sleep

However, I would need more information to truly be able to narrow in on the cause.

I'm having this same problem -- though I'm a parent, not a teacher, and it's happening with my kids. We've contacted the school IT and they gave us some simple tips, which we followed, but it hasn't solved the problem. They claim no one else is having this problem. Our home wifi connection is extremely fast, strong, reliable, etc., so I doubt it's that, but I suppose there could be something about the connection I'm not thinking of that could be causing a problem.
This is driving my kids crazy and causing serious problems in their school experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It just happened. We get a message: "The application did not detect any activity and closed your session to protect your security. Enter the password for...and click Login to resume your sessions." Then there's a space for the password and a "Logout" and "Login" button. It happens if we've been inactive, but it also happens when my kids are actively taking a test, watching a video, etc.

Warren Herold could you provide the URL of your Buzz login page so I can see what school you are affiliated with and provide additional assistance?

That dialogue message can occur if the student puts their computer to sleep or closes their lid on their laptop. Additionally, your school may have an idle timeout defined for their users.

Additional investigation would likely be needed as I can't tell what may have occurred from the information provided and without reproduction steps.

Thanks so much for the help, Brian! It's fva2.agilixbuzz.com. A little more information about our situation: We're definitely not putting the computer to sleep or closing the lid (though I see why you mention that, as I'm sure it happens). As for an idle timeout, it would need to be set VERY short in order for that to be the cause. They get logged out while they're actively working. For example, they've been logged out while taking a quiz -- actively clicking on things, scrolling, typing, etc. They've been logged out while watching a short video. It would make sense to log them out if they left the computer and took a break for 15 minutes or something. I understand that. But this is very different. It's kicking them off while they're working! It's very strange, and extremely frustrating (since they often lose whatever work they've done and need to start over). Thanks again for working with us on this!

One quick thing: We did receive some advice from our school. They told us to keep only one tab open at a time, and be sure to log in before working and log back out when done. Unfortunately, none of these things worked. Just wanted to let you know that we've already tried all of this, so it must be something else. Thanks!
