I use to be able to add a Google Drive document to Buzz and students had the ability to use "File" and "Make a Copy" with the menu
bar available across the top. Now the menu bar is not visible. As the owner of the Google Doc...I use to be able to click on the Google Doc through Buzz and I could directly edit it. That function is no longer available so now I have to dig through my drive to find the document and edit it there.
Thanks
You may need to enable the Google Edit Mode feature within the activity settings and that the file may need to be created within Google and not a Word document. With that setting enabled and I use a file created within Google Drive I can see the Google edit toolbar when I preview the activity in Buzz.
I am having the same problem, even when enabling the launch in edit mode, the option to make a copy is grayed out from File. Students can no longer make a copy of the document so they can edit on their own. Is there a solution for this?
Unfortunately, the ability to utilize the make a copy feature is controlled by Google, not Buzz. Google has restricted that functionality within an iframe of apps like Buzz.
To resolve this behavior, Google will need to change the current behavior of when a Google Document is loaded in an iframe on third-party apps like Buzz. Until Google changes this behavior, I recommend enabling the "Popup in a new window" activity setting to launch the Google Document outside of the iframe in Buzz. That way, when the Google Document opens in a new tab, if the students are signed-in to their Google accounts, they will be able to "Make a copy" of the document and utilize other similar features. Additionally, a user could download the Google Document as their copy.
