Activity Grader Feedback

We activated the activity grader as an experimental feature last spring and asked our teachers for feedback.  They really liked that they could arrow up and down and that they could get the version listed as a column option.  They had several suggestions that they thought could improve this tool.

We would like to see:

  • the grade column be closer to the name column.  We are suggesting putting it to the left of the names.
  • the due date be listed and adjustable on this screen without clicking Edit similar to how this works on the Group settings screen in the new editor.
  • the Analytics button move into the header bar at the top of the screen and an Objectives button added to the same.
  • arrows added to the header bar to allow the user to go to the previous/next item in the gradebook without leaving the Activity Grader.  A drop down menu to select items further away would be a secondary enhancement.
  • the grades be editable by default and the current grade button be changed to Review
  • the setting auto changed to review when clicking on a student name so that the challenge boxes in navigating between students don't appear
  • the ability to excuse an item by entering an X for the score or the ability to adjust the status from the table
  • the ability to enter an absent code (ab perhaps) that would count as zero
  • the ability to quickly turn on the treat unscored as zero feature from this screen
  • the list of names and scores for the entire class to be visible even when looking at individual student data, similar to the old version
  • the black zeros from the treat unscored as zero to remain black instead of being auto turned red when grades are submitted through the Activity Grader

Thank you for working hard on this tool.  We hope that you will seriously consider these feature requests.  We think that they will make this tool even better for all users.
