I support k-12 teachers in our district. I have a teacher who would like to export grades to a spreadsheet, but she wants the total points (3/4) not the percentage (75%) to be exported. Is she able to do that?
When the teacher follows those steps, the points data that is exported is out of 100.
What she is looking to do is export point totals based on assigned total points. So if she assigned a four point/four item activity, the data she wants to export is 3 points out of 4, not 75%, and not 75 out of 100.
Looks like that might have to do with how the teacher has the assignments set up. When I run that export for a class I'm teaching, these are the results:
Is it possible that the teacher has the grading scale set to 100 instead of the actual number of points for the activity?
Sure enough! Based on a test I just ran, it looks like that grade export runs off of weight-points rather than grading-scale-points. As the screenshot shows, I changed weight-points to 100 and left grading scale points at 30. When I ran the export, the students' scores showed as out of 100, not out of 30.
If any Buzz support folks happen to read through here, I'd be interested in hearing if this is the behavior intended for the Export scores > Points report. As a teacher, I think I would prefer the points option to report out grading-scale-points, not weight-points.
Activity scores are based on the weights (out of 100 in your example). Therefore the reports are going off of the weights and is intended from what you have described. For example, if an activity is using points and the student received 50 points out of 100 on the overall activity, that is 50 out of 100, or in percent 50% of 100%.

She is! She'll want to go to Gradebook, then click the wrench icon, then click Export scores from that menu.
From there, she can choose to export points instead of percentages.

Can that be done?

Thanks so much for your help.
I believe she is set up for weighted grading. Would that impact her?
