Howdy support team,
There is a function on the "Course Editor" where the system "Automatically assign zero scores to past-due activities." This is great tool as it notifies students they need to get on the ball and complete an assignment. However, I have to manually go in and allow them a "retry" if they turn it in late. I have added "Allow late submissions" and "Always allow late submissions" on each assignment, but it still makes me manually enter in "retry" if the assignment is past due. This can be very exhausting to do for each assignment. Is there a workaround for this?
Peace and Joy,
Joshua Mitchell
I'm going to guess from your description that your assignments are created as assessment type activities where they have to redo the entire assignment. If so, you could also change the number of attempts to 2. Then, you wouldn't have to individually allow a retry. Of course, every student would have 2 tries.
They are actually "Assignment" type of activities where I give them instructions and they turn in a .pdf or a video. If they miss the deadline, I would like them to still have a chance to complete it. There doesn't seem to be the "number of attempts" for these type of assignments.
Hmmm...I've got one more suggestion for you. If this doesn't do it maybe someone from Agilix will have a suggestion.
Go to your gradebook. Click on the title of the assignment to open the activity grader. Check the box in front of each student that you wish to allow a retry. Then, click the wrench and choose batch update scores from the pop-up menu.
Click on the allow retry tab and you should see the option to give all of the selected students a retry. Click update.
Alternatively, DO NOT select any individual students. Since no one is selected, your options are different. You will either need to select submitted or submitted and scored. I think the auto-zero late activities counts as a submitted score of 0. Click update. Now everyone should have a retry.
Thanks again for helping out and responding. It means a lot.
Would this allow a retry for all students, including those who turned them on time and have already been graded? I do not want it to show up again on their "To Do List."
I also am not seeing the option for selecting specific students for a retry. I can only see Submitted, Submitted and scored....
I'm happy to help Joshua. I know how frustrating it can be.
Yes, if you don't select specific students, then everyone will have a retry.
When you are in the activity grader there is a check box in front of each name (see screenshot below). That's where you select students. After you have selected one or more students, go to the batch update. Now you will see "selected" as an option. You won't see that if you haven't selected anyone.

Any thoughts from the Agilix team?

This worked! Thank you so much!
