If we want students to complete an assignment before moving on to the next assignment, how do we reset it if they turned in work but it is not sufficient? How can we show the assignment as incomplete when they did turn something in, but need to redo it?
I think this will do what you want. Hopefully, someone from Agilix will correct or confirm for you.
Open your assignment in the editor. Go to settings and find the advanced activity options frame.
I think the key is to notice is says student must COMPLETE the activity before continuing to the next one. If you look immediately above that you can set the conditions for when the activity is complete. The default is when the student submits the activity. They could, then, submit the activity blank and still be allowed to move on to the next because it would be marked complete.
In our courses we change it to be complete when student receives a passing score. Notice I don't use the gateway option to keep them from moving on. What this setting does for me is that the activity will stay on the students' to-do lists until they earn a passing score.
In addition to that, you may want to look at the frame for advanced gradebook options.
Notice, I changed the passing score to 70%. This assignment won't be marked as complete (nor drop off the student's to-do list) until the student earns at least 70%.
Using these settings you can make it so the student needs to earn whatever percentage you want before they would be allowed to move on to the next activity. I'm not sure if this will work retroactively on an assignment that was already marked as complete.
Bruce is correct. That is the setting you will want. However, it will become difficult to enforce after the fact since they have submitted. You would need to impose a threshold as Bruce stated to prevent the student from progressing.
in general, we recommend that settings be modified where possible when there isn't live students in the course. We understand that sometimes it isn't an option.
