We haven't changed our certificates for some time. It's possible the client you are using is changing the certificate after a certain amount of time. You should manually verify that the certificate is acceptable when you see a unknown certificate warning message. You typically will see that unknown certificate warning when using FileZilla which allows the user to accept the certificate or not for future sessions.
