Capping a 2nd attempt test grade.

If I have a student that takes a test and fails it the first time, but gets a 90% on it for the 2nd attempt, is there a setting I can use so that Buzz automatically caps the 2nd attempt at a 70%?

Hey Ellyce!

There is not a way to cap or penalize subsequent assessment attempts. The closest (automatic) thing I can think of you doing is setting the Scored attempt to Average (see Assessment activity editor). What this will do is take the first attempt and average it with the second attempt.

For example:

  • First attempt score: 50%
  • Second attempt score: 90%
  • Assessment score: 70%
