Are teachers able to see when students are awarded an automatic badge in a course? We need to be able to get notification of an auto-completed assignment and this was one possible solution.
To answer your question, a teacher cannot see when a student is awarded an automatic badge in a course unless they proxy as the student and view their Activity Stream. However, there are other ways for teachers to know if a student has received a badge.
For instance, a teacher can look at the student's completion status of all activities within a folder or individual activities the badge is aligned to in the gradebook. Viewing the student's completion of those activities should give the teacher an idea of whether the student has earned the badge.
If you need teachers to be alerted when a student submits an activity in general, you may want to consider enabling the teacher notification of when a student submits something. This way, teachers are notified when a student submits any activity, including those that lead to automatic badge awards.
