If I remember correctly, I put a third line between the equations with a big ampersand. I'm not sure if it still works, but having the extra symbol between the equations confused the Photomath App. ;)

If your assignment is made as a Practice (formerly homework) activity I don't think you can limit the number of attempts. That's why we use variables as much as possible.

Yeah, I found it. I'm not sure if it was always there or added in an update. In the activity editor I have to click on the wrench. The editor is the last choice in the list.
