Hi Buzz Team,

I wanted to share a recurring challenge I’m seeing with students navigating the platform, and also offer a suggestion.

Many of my students rely almost exclusively on the “To-Do List” to find their assignments and check grades, which is great for staying on track. However, a lot of important learning resources (such as recorded Zoom sessions, answer videos, and lecture content) live in the “Activities List.” For students who fall behind (especially in an independent study environment), these resources are essential for catching up and building understanding.

The issue is that the Activities List tends to get overlooked, likely because of its placement and visibility.

I’m wondering if there might be a way to make these materials more prominent. For example, could there be a sidebar or structured navigation view that highlights the sequence of activities and resources? Something similar to the guided sidebar we see in Vector trainings (e.g., mandated reporter modules), where users can easily move between content, might help students engage more intentionally with non-graded materials.

I’m also curious how others are addressing this:

  • How are you training students to consistently access the Activities List?
  • Have you found effective strategies to get students to use non-graded resources?

Appreciate any ideas or feedback!

Thanks,
Sam Martinez
