I think this came up once before, but our teachers (and myself) still get a bit confused... The green circle checkmark that shows on the activity on the activities page seems to still show sometimes when the item is still on the to-do list, and where does the "Mark as complete when the student:" under advanced activity options come into play? Should all 3 be one in the same trigger, to remove the green check and to come off the to do list based on "mark as complete when the student" setting? And the green check go away if student does not meet the expectations of the "mark as complete" setting? If not, can you explain what the difference in the trigger for the green circle checkmark and coming off the to do list and the mark as complete feature? (or guide me to an article that addresses this?)
- Also related - A teacher requested to not allow students to submit a dropbox (set to submission type: document(s)) without anything attached. Since if the assignment is set to mark as complete when student "submits this activity" will come off to do list if they submit an empty dropbox.
Thank you!
It's a bit difficult to provide an exact answer without exact examples/IDs provided that will allow us to experience the reported behaviors.
In general, the green checkmark typically means the activity has been marked as completed. Although, it doesn't necessarily mean a student may have submitted.
Mark as complete, when enabled, allows a student to select within the activity to mark it as completed.
The completion trigger in the activity settings allows for a course author to define what will trigger the activity to be marked as completed. Once that trigger occurs, Buzz will mark the activity with a green checkmark in the student gradebook and grade editor.
If an activity has a completion trigger of when a student submits, it doesn't matter if the activity has a dropbox option or not as it counts the submission made as completed under that scenario.
If there is additional assistance needed and specific examples that need further investigation I would recommend reaching out to your organization's authorized contact and if needed submitting a ticket to Agilix Support.
