Turnitin Assignments not Registering as Complete

We have Turnitin added to many of our written assignments in Buzz. Today, students are submitting these but Buzz is not marking them as submitted (we have them set so students cannot move forward in classes until they submit) and we are having to use override complete on individual items to get them to register as submitted. Any ideas why this is suddenly happening?

Hi Julianne,

Thanks for reaching out. We haven't made any system changes today that would explain a sudden shift in how submissions are being marked in Buzz. Based on what you've described, this could point to an issue with Turnitin or an undesired change in the activity settings. I would recommend taking a closer look at both the Turnitin settings and the Buzz completion settings for the affected assignments. If everything looks good and the issue persists, then I would suggest reaching out to School Pathways Support so that they can take a closer look. They can also escalate a ticket to Agilix Support if needed for further investigation.

I hope this information helps, and have a great day!

Thanks!  It is an issue across the board in all of our classes, so I don't believe it is anything we have changed on our end.  I appreciate it.

Good morning,

I spent a while investigating last night.  I believe that this is related to the fact that we had not chosen the type of file under "allowed submission types".  For the past 1.5 years, we had not needed to specify that on the Turnitin assignments, but for some reason, it started to cause an error where there was no "submitted date" when a student uploaded their assignment (this then did not mark it as submitted).  Once I specified the file types allowed and resubmitted a student's assignment, it corrected the error.  I wanted to bring it to your attention for future information.  It may be helpful to note in the guidance for setting up Turnitin files under LTI 1.3.

Thanks!
