Does anyone know how Buzz calculates grades on assignments when it set to give a percentage instead of points? Does it give a percentage based off the total number of points that have been assigned so far in the course or is it doing something else?
Thanks for your question. For Buzz assignments, scores are typically entered manually and are stored as the student's grade for a that assignment. They can be entered as a percentage or a score depending on the assignment's Score entry setting. If the teacher later changes the assignment's Score entry from points to percent, Buzz does not recalculate the score, rather, it simply converts the existing score to display as a percentage. For example, if a student receives 5/10 points on an assignment, and that assignment Score entry is changed to percent, it would simply display as 50%. This same logic also applies depending on the settings being used in the Gradebook display options. Buzz does not calculate assignment percentages based off the total number of points assigned across the course, but the assignment score is used to calculate the student's overall grade for the course.
I hope this information helps. Feel free to reach back out if I am misunderstanding, or if you have additional questions.
