Updating Point values

I am trying to update the point value for all questions in an assessment activity. When I set it to a custom value and save...it does show that setting has been saved. When I go into the assessment, the point values for each question have not updated. Is there a step I am missing?

Hey Shelly,

Thanks for reaching out. In my own testing I have been able to use the "Edit all questions" feature to adjust the number of points a question is worth using the following format:

Type: MC
Score: 10
1) What is the capitol of Utah?
a. Zion
*b. Salt Lake City
c. St. George
d. Provo

By adjusting the "Score" value and saving the edits, I am able to observe that changes have taken place. Is the behavior still occurring even after following this workflow to adjust the question point value? If so, reproduction steps (that include course ID's, activity ID's, screenshots, etc...) would be very helpful in troubleshooting this. If you're not comfortable sharing those details on this public forum, I recommend you escalate this to your organizations authorized support representative so that they can submit a ticket to Agilix Support.

As a side note, if the question is only worth one point, the "Score" value may not show up when using the "Edit all questions" feature. If that is the case, you can simply mimic the format show above and type out "Score: x" under the question type, where x is the point value you desire for the question.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you are still running into problems. Thanks!

Hi,

Thanks for your response! To confirm, updating the default question score in the advanced assessment options box (on the Settings tab) will not work. I need to go to the Questions tab and select the <> button (html preview -Edit all Questions). Once there, I need to edit the html and change the point values for each question. This process does work for me.

Do you have suggestions for this process if I am updating every single assessment question in a course, and it will be multiple courses across multiple grade levels? Any "shortcuts" LOL

Hey Shelly,

Thanks for the response. I'm glad you've found a process that works!

Perhaps the best way that this process can be simplified is by structuring your content so that it can inherit changes from a root level base course. We have a helpful article on this if you are interested: "How do Base and Derivative Courses work?". The handy thing about structuring your courses in this way is that it prevents the need to perform adjustments to each course. If your content is already structured this way, then you would simply need to perform these changes on the base course, and they should flow down to all of the linked derivative courses.

Hopefully this provides some guidance so that you don't have to perform the changes on each and every assessment. Let me know if you have any additional questions. Thanks!
