How can I make Extra Credit points that my students earn NOT show up on their grade report as if they earned an F? It auto sets to 100% on the weighted scale for the grading category. I have tried putting in ZERO / 0 as Grading Scale (points). I have tried EVERYTHING I can think of!!! Please help me figure out how to have EXTRA POINTS add to that grading category but NOT as a percent.

Good morning Bonnie,

On the Grading Category Details page (within Course Settings), the course author can change the “Display score for students as” option to Points. This will display scores as numeric values instead of percentages in both the student and teacher gradebooks.

Could you clarify which areas in Buzz you want to display as numeric values instead of letters?

Additionally, if you can share the course ID, we’ll be able to review the settings for that course.

Thank you! Changing it to "Points" worked so that Grade Category just shows as a number and not a % or an "F" (although it is still in red if they earned 5/20 points) I appreciate a REAL person helping me to figure this out!!!

I added a new "Grading Category" called "Extension Points" for extra credit. The problem is that the district has us set Weighting Scale as 50% for "Quizzes", 40% for "Assignments/Activities" and 10% for Final Exam. That means that my "Extension Points" cannot go over the 100%, so how can I have them add to the total points?

What I really wanted to do was to assign certain "extension activities" to make up for points that they may have lost on a quiz or other assignment, but in that case it would be in the "Grading Category" which forces it to show the %.

I'm sorry that I don't know where to look, but I really need some clarification on what "Weight in Category" means, along with "Score Entry," "Grading Scale (points). Do the "Points" and the "Grading scale (points)" have to be the same?

Lastly, is there a way under "Advanced Activity Options" to let the student just SKIP an optional "Extension Activity" without have to click "Submit" in order to move on? (My only options are "Submits this activity," "Receives any score," or "Receives a Passing Score.") I cannot find the way to turn off the "Advanced Activity Options."

I'm sure I'll have more questions, but you were amazingly helpful just getting me to locate the "points" section under the "Grade Category."

Thank you! (Is my "course id" the number SS 115 OA (online academy" AZ/ AM Government?) I'm not sure where to find this number? Thanks again!
