What is the most efficient way to add observers to a subdomain? We have 28 subdomains and we could add all parents' emails with the csv spreadsheet. Then the teachers need to connect their students with their parents. This could be time intensive for our teachers. Is there a way to generate a code for parents? We do not have SIS integration and the whole LMS has been labor-intensive. Any short cuts to adding observers quickly would be appreciated!
Using a bulk upload is definitely the way to go. Fortunately, Buzz makes that pretty easy! Here's how I would do it, one subdomain at a time.
Download the User Export report to get a spreadsheet with all the student usernames. Delete any rows that are non-student users, and delete any columns that aren't student usernames.
In the cell to the right of each student username, type the parent Buzz username for the parent that goes with the student.
In the cell to the left of each student username, type the word Add.
Finally, add a headers row. The header for the Add column should be Action. The header for the student-username column should be Observee Id. The header for the parent-username column should be User Id.
The product should look like this.
Finally, from the Buzz Admin dashboard, go to Import observers under the 3-dot menu in the upper-right.
You can just select all in your spreadsheet, copy it, and paste it into the textbox. It won't look very nice, but it'll work.
Then click Next (lower-right), then Import (lower-right), and you're done.
Is there a way to remove all current observers to wipe it clean for the new school year? Perhaps an export the provides all current observers, that we can modify and import?
