Consider adding this as an assignment setting so that teachers can designate some non gradable items to be included and some to be omitted if they are supplementary.

Hi Betsy! Just a fellow Buzz user, not a Buzz staff person, but I've played around some with what you're describing for some classes I've taught.

My experience has been that you can set up an activity (1) as not gradable but (2) with a due date, and that will make it show up in student to-do lists. They'll be able to "Mark as complete," so it doesn't show up in your grading inbox.

If you don't want an activity to show up in their to-do lists, you can just make sure it's (1) not gradable and (2) has no due date.
