Hi!
Students and teachers can rearrange their courses in the Course view of the web portal, but parents can't. Would you please add this function (Or a hide tile function)? The Course view - especially at the beginning of a new term - is always so messy. I've sent in a screenshot to my son's teacher just to figure out which classes I need to pay attention to because out of the ten tiles on the Courses screen, my son isn't in half of them.
We greatly appreciate your feedback and will consider it for future updates to Buzz. Additionally, I recommend coordinating with the school on whether the student's ten enrollments need to remain active if they aren't actively doing work in those ten courses. If the school can keep the student's enrollments up-to-date with an accurate status, that should help reduce the number of course tiles observers like yourself will see.
I have tried coordinating with the school, and it doesn't work. They might not know what they're doing, or there might be some bug on their end that they don't know how to get support for, or whatever. Sometimes, one or two will come off after they recheck his enrollment, but they mostly don't. Case in point: now there's only nine tiles on the course page.
My son had extra classes on his account at all quarters last year, and the only way to navigate all the tiles was for me to keep a handwritten list with the names of the correct courses on it, so I could actually find the correct ones. Additionally, at the beginning of every term, there's a two week period before the old/incorrect courses drop off, so the page is always extra cluttered then. I am asking for this because I can't control what the school does on their end, so being able to control what I'm looking at on my end would really help.
It is expected behavior for courses to be removed from the homepage 14 days after the student is complete with their enrollment. This period gives time for teachers to finish grading the last few assignments in the course and for students to check on the grades received. During these 14 days, the course cards should have a red indicator for each of the expired courses. That indicator helps users differentiate which courses are inactive and will soon be removed from the homepage and which courses they are actively working on or will soon begin.
Ultimately, changing the enrollment status to prevent your reported behavior is up to the school. However, we have taken your feedback into consideration.
