The password was removed from the assessment back in 2022, but the assessment is still prompting the student to enter a password. The domain has a password, would this force the individual activities as well? Is there another password setting somewhere?

Hello,

Multiple password configurations could be causing the behavior you described, such as a password to view the activity, one to start the assessment, or a password on its parent folder. To investigate further, I recommend exploring the mentioned settings and, if you feel comfortable doing so, sharing with me the associated enrollment and activity IDs. Those IDs will allow me to review the configuration and determine the cause.

Hello,

I have checked the settings. There is no password on the assessment. There was, but it was removed in January 2022.

There is an activity password at the domain level, but that shouldn't hold up the student, right?

One of the enrollment IDs is 190100292. One of the activity IDs is PSK4F

Thank you for providing that additional information and checking those settings. Using the IDs you provided, I viewed the activity in Buzz and identified the cause and a solution.

The behavior you described is occurring because the security level for activity ID PSK4F is still set to "high" in the item data. This configuration is causing the assessment to prompt for a password, even though the password was removed in January 2022. To rectify this, I recommend following the steps below:

  1. In Buzz, navigate to the base course assessment, which is located in course ID 163142940.
  2. Edit the base course assessment and add a password to it.
  3. Save the changes.
  4. Edit the base course assessment again and remove the password.
  5. Save the changes once more.

By following these steps, the security level will be reset for the activity, and the password prompt issue should be resolved. Please ensure that you save the changes both after adding and removing the password to ensure the updated configuration takes effect.

Regarding the domain-level password, you are correct. The domain-level password acts as a master key and allows users to access any password-protected activity within the domain. Therefore, it should not be restricting access in this particular case.

If you have any further questions or encounter any difficulties while implementing the suggested solution, please don't hesitate to let me know. I'll be more than happy to assist you further.
