Scaling a quiz score

I have a simple quiz worth 5 points. When it goes into the gradebook it scales to 10 points. How do I stop the scaling to 10 points?

Open your item in the editor. Click on the gradebook tab. Is the weight in category set to 5 or 10?

I changed it from 100 to 5. The score is correct. Can you send me a link to further understand "weight category". I have no weighting in my class and don't understand how to work with this field Thanks.

Sorry Jackie, I don't have a link. Maybe someone from Agilix can chime in with something.

The term weight in category is a bit misleading at first. It isn't the same as weighted grades. Here is my understanding of what it does... In my class I have a category for assignments. Each assignment has a different number of questions. I write as many as I think are necessary for the students to practice. However, I don't want one assignment to be worth more points than any other assignment. I always make the weight in category =5 so every assignment goes in the gradebook as 5 points so they are all equally weighted compared to each other. If I gave a big assignment and changed the weight in category to 10 it would be worth twice as much as each of the other assignments.

If I messed that up somehow, hopefully Agilix will correct me. :)

Thanks for your help. I do want them to be worth the points I have so the scaling is confusing me. I think I have a workaround for quizzes, will keep an eye out on tests.

Hi Jackie,

Are you seeing it scale to 10 points when you grade it? (The underlined part in the picture below).

This number is set as the Grade Scale, and is just another way to input the score. This does not change the weight.

Here is a breakdown of 3 areas that get confused within Buzz.

The best way to see how much a grade is weighted is in the weights tab in the editor tool.
