Improved accessibility in Buzz
As previously announced, the following accessibility updates have been released:
More predictable navigation with labeled Main Menu entries
This update was rolled back on 10/31
We have enhanced accessibility in the Main Menu for students, teachers, and observers by making button labels always visible for top-level navigation items rather than depending on hoverable tooltips.
When a course is selected from the Main Menu, all top-level menu entries now remain in the same position rather than collapsing to icon-only buttons, creating a more stable and predictable navigation experience.
Clipboard Add button moved for screen reader compatibility
We have improved accessibility in the Clipboard by moving the Add button for Quick lists and Groups.
The Add button was previously nested inside a control used to expand or collapse a field, which is not recognized by screen readers. The button is now placed in a more accessible location, ensuring all users can easily add Quick list and Groups.
The Remove button will also be moved and changed into a delete icon button.

Streamlined tooltips
To improve usability in Buzz, we have streamlined the text in our hoverable tooltips and removed unnecessary tooltips that can interfere with using other content on a screen.
For example, tooltips in the Teacher > Editor > Syllabus that appear for icon buttons in a grid have been removed, so users can use those tools without tooltips covering them.
This does not impact screen reader text for those buttons, and less recognizable buttons, like the Choice activities button, retain tooltips.
Buzz updates
In this release, we:
- Improved accessibility by updating screens with truncated text to display the full text when possible, including the teachers' Needs grading screen and Home screen in list view.
- Updated the Reports > Other > Enrollment report to include course titles with export.
Buzz fixes
In this release, we also:
- Fixed an issue where single-pointer mode did not work in an assessment for drag-and-drop questions that were linked to a passage question.
- Fixed an issue where long student names were being clipped in the Clipboard.
- Fixed an issue in the assessment editor Questions tab Preview where math equations were rendered too large for the screen.
- Fixed an issue where exporting scores for a group would not export the scores for activities that were marked visible to the group but hidden from other students.
- Fixed an issue when printing student grades for active and past courses, where the user's selection in the print dialog's Optional columns field wasn't remembered.
- Fixed an issue in the Gradebook > Quick-edit tool where filtering by different groups and then filtering by different categories would cause subsequent quick-edit score changes to not be saved.
