Access to Backup of Buzz Content?

Dr. Brian Erskine

Hi Everyone,

I am an admin user on my organization's Buzz platform. I received a panicked message from a teacher because she accidentally deleted an entire unit of material from her course. We've tried every trick of the trade possible to undo the deletion but have been thus far unsuccessful. Is there a backup feature or archive feature from which I can do a "restore" or some retrieval of those data.

Thank you,
~Brian

It isn't in the recycle bin?

Hello Dr. Erskine!

If the teacher deleted items from their course syllabus, the items can be restored through the Recycle Bin. The following document describes this process. How do I restore deleted activities and folders?

Let me know if additional assistance is needed!

If it isn't in the recycle bin check inside other folders. (Maybe do a search if you know the title of the missing unit or an activity in the unit.) We have had several teachers (myself included) who have this issue when using laptops. When you touch the trackpad to scroll the screen your computer can register that as a mouse-click. Then when you think you are scrolling, you are actually dragging whatever was under your cursor and it gets dropped inside of another folder or items can be rearranged (so you may see Unit 1 mysteriously after Unit 5 instead of at the beginning).

These have been thoughtful responses, but unfortunately, the Recycle Bin is not showing me any of the deleted items. Essentially 50% of the course material is missing and the gradebook was erased when those items were deleted. Is there a "restore" option or automatic backup that happens within my organization that perhaps I don't know about?

I see this in the Help menu, but there are no accompanying details:

  • Backup and recovery: Buzz data is backed up every day. In the case of a disaster, data can be recovered from these backups. Backups are regularly tested.

Hi Dr. Erskine!

That is strange that this has occurred! I recommend that you reach out to your organization and have their authorized representative submit a ticket to Agilix Support to investigate this behavior.

We had this issue occur when the content was deleted from the Resources folder. Deleted items did not appear in the recycle bin. For example, if the assignments are in html files and the files are deleted, what is the best method of recovery?

Hello Lyn!

It would require restoring the deleted resource through the API. If API support is needed, please reach out to your authorized contact that can submit a ticket to Agilix Support.
