Buzz: Questions & Answers

Where did the Assessment - Advanced Editor go in the newest Buzz editor?

When we were in BrainHoney and the old Buzz assessment editor, we switched to Advanced Editor to be able to import tests that had been created in ExamView and then exported to the WebCT option (as we were instructed by the Agilix Support team way back years ago when we first started using BH).

Where did this advanced editor go in the newest version of Buzz?

How do we import tests from ExamView or TestGen (two different testbanks that come with many of our textbooks) into this newest version of Buzz?

AGREED!  Please bring this back!  Especially the ability to use HTML!

We often use tables in our questions and would write these in the advanced editor.  I didn't see anywhere in the new editor to put tables into the questions.

Hi Flew!  Try the Edit All button when you are on the Questions tab. It is in the top left hand corner underneath the Questions tab on the assessment when you are in the Questions area.   On a new test, it opens up a blank window. On tests I already have created I am able to view the HTML code for all of the questions that are in the test in that window, so I think on a fresh test you can probably put your HTML code there.

If you do not see that button, try the TEXT mode instead of visual mode when you create the new question.  This button is to the right of the question tool bar at the top (just to the left of the Properties area of the screen).  That also switches you over to the area where I believe that you an add your HTML code.

I just can not figure out how to  import question banks that we have purchased or created in programs like ExamView outside of Buzz.

I hope that helps!

Importing tests and creating your own short answer questions in the advanced editor is huge in our course development.

Thanks for the suggestion Melissa.  I tried putting it into the edit all, but when I go to preview it with the Visual Button, it only shows the coding...  I can get it to work with <div> tags and <p> tags, but I can't get it to work with <table> tags.

Flew,

It appears from your screenshot that you are not closing out the
section for your question which is causing the table to not render properly. Adding
to the end of your html code should resolve the issue of the table not rendering.

No luck.

Almost all of our assignments are written in HTML.  If I change the settings of the assignment, it will still display correctly.  However, if I make any changes to the questions, the new Buzz editor displays all the coding.

There is currently a bug that is slated be resolved with the upcoming release where if there is human readability formatting in the HTML it will not parse properly. If you enter all the HTML continuously (without spaces or line breaks between coding elements) it will work.

After the next system update formatting the HTML as shown in your latest screenshot will work properly.

That would be awesome!  I was worried that this function was going away and our whole course would be shot.

By upcoming release, do you mean one of the Thursday updates?  Or a whole new release?  (Ie. when are we looking at this functionality being fixed?)

What about importing a test from another program? My teachers have a lot of tests in Exam View. They export those as WebCT files, then import into Brain Honey. Since it's SCORM compliant, it worked perfectly.

I can't find how to do this in Buzz. Where is the import area?

Kelly,

The new editor in Buzz currently does not have the ability to import SCORM items. While that functionality is being updated for Buzz we recommend the use of BrainHoney to import the tests/questions for use in Buzz.

We embeded html in passage on a question using the opening and closing
and wanted to include td valign="top" tags and it will not render the table cells in our rows, on the top, even though the code shows that it was saved. We first created a Passage template, using MSWord, and then saved the page as a filtered html page. The td valign code is there, it just won't render.

Has there been any update on importing a Scorm package into Buzz. I am trying to do it through custom activities but I can't find the file. Is there a way to take the .pdf, html filter off of the custom activies (like on attachments where I can see everything) so I can see the rest of the files and folders on the server? This would allow me to a least see the scorm zip package. As it is now, I can upload the zipped file to the server, but that is it. I cannot attach it to a custom activity, or even see it because it only sees it as a unique identify folder of numbers. (on the server is shows the actual zipped file however). Do we have any idea when this option will be available? I am trying to add Storyline 2 files to my course which I have done in Brainhoney many times.

HELP!!

I'm trying to import TestGen tests into an assessment.  TestGen gives me an option of exporting the test as one of the following:

I choose QTI, and it saves as a zip file on my desktop.  When I unzip, I get a folder.  What and how do I upload to the assessment?

Hello Brian and Anne:

There still does not exist a native way to import a packaged SCORM, Common Cartridge, or QTI files directly into Buzz. We do have plans on making this available, though. In the meantime, a user would still have to use BrainHoney to import this content but can then review and modify it in Buzz.

how do I do this?  Is BrainHney something available to me?

Hey Anne, it depends upon how your institution is setup. I would suggest that this question be submitted to your LMS provider, which I believe is NTN in your case.

Is there any update on importing ExamView zipped files (Web CT CE6/Vista 4) into Buzz? I checked out the new UI, but did not see any import options in the Assessment screens there. Thanks!

Hello Annette,

The ability to import files like that is still on the roadmap, however there is not an exact ETA at this time.

Agreed!  Same here!

It works now. When you go to the Editor and create an activity, choose IMS Package. This is the new area where you can upload a WEB CT zip file or a SCORUM compliant file.

Just checking to see what format we need to use for TestGen. The QTI WebCT CE6 zip file will not import. Any suggestions?
