Prior to the 7/13 update, when I went to gate an assignment, I could look at the icons and know which pages were lesson pages and which were assignment pages. For example, if I was gating a test to make sure they have completed all of the quiz assignments, I look for the "assessment" and "assignment" icons and mark those to be gated. If they don't read a lesson page, I'm okay with still allowing them to test.
When I went in today, all of my lesson pages (for at least one of my vendors) appear as "assignment" icons, even though they aren't assignments.
Yes, I can read the lesson titles in this case and know which ones not to check but it is much more time consuming than it used to be. And sometimes, it isn't easy to tell just by the name which are assignments and which are lessons, which will require me flipping back and forth between the settings page of the assessment and the edit page for the course.
TBH, I still miss the Brainhoney days of being able to select all assignments in the module as a gate (and the lessons don't even show up for me to have to uncheck).

Hi Chad!
I am sorry you are experiencing any unwanted behavior with the new update.
Could you please provide us with a course ID and an activity ID of the different activity types that are at issue to compare with?
In the meantime, as a workaround, would it be possible to go to the Activity List and filter by activity type to edit only activities based by the activity type?
Allison, I'm not sure I quite understand what you are asking me to provide. Maybe because I didn't explain well the issue.
I'm not trying to edit activities. I am applying a gate to ONE activity. To apply the gate, I need to choose which activities gate it.
The update changed the look of the activities, so now I can't tell which activities are gradable and which are view only.
The item circled in green is a read-only lesson and used to look like a blank piece of paper with no writing on it. Now the icon looks identical to the one below it, which is an assignment the student needs to submit.
I want the lessons to look like a blank piece of paper again.
Thank you for clarifying, Chad!
I have not been able to replicate your reported behavior. The icon is a blank paper for a non gradable activity as seen in screenshot below. For us to investigate your report, you will need to provide us with the course ID and the activity ID of where you are setting the gating condition, and the activity ID of the target that the gating will be conditional by.

The reason that the icon looks different now is not related to our release on 7/13. It is caused by user ID 186150329 changing the activity type from AssetLink (File or Website) to a CustomActivity type which uses a different icon. You can see this in the activity History page for activity ID 6017e172fb24473885457f417730b0fe. Coincidentally it occurred on the same day as the release but at 6:21PM MT, which was much later in the day than our release.
If you weren't expecting that change, you will need to reach out to the organization that user ID 186150329 is part of to discuss it
Thank you. I'm not sure which organization uses that ID, but I'll reach out to the vendor to see if they have any information.
Thank you for the update and information. My apologies for thinking it was the Update.
Allison,
I haven't heard back from the vendor yet, but I found a new course with the same issue (the "lesson" assignments have changed icons.
The first 1.1 and the first 1.2 are both lessons, and used to be a blank page. Now they are "assignments."
When I look at history, there is nothing there for recently like the last example you showed me.

I gave two Activity IDs if that helps.
Hi Chad,
I am not able to get newly created custom activities into that state using the current version of Buzz and the version of Buzz before the last update. I used the same item data in my testing. I also confirmed that the icons were the same before our last release after examining the course syllabus with an older release of Buzz.
The two activities you provided are several years old (2016) and could have been the result of a bug that was later corrected but did not fix items already in that state. I recommend the course author go to the root course (49356403) and change the custom activities to gradable, and then save it again as non gradable. That will change the icon to a paper icon as you desire and the change should trickle down through the child courses. You may also inquire of your vendor to see if they could perform those changes with a script in the case they have access to the course to make those changes.
