In the new release, we now have the option of specifying what kinds of files we will accept for assignments. YAY!!

Going into my assignments today, though, it looks like "File" and "Google file" are the defaults.

As a school, we do not allow students to submit Google files. We have had instances where a student has submitted a Google file (when we did allow them) and then after the teacher graded the assignment, the student would change their Google file so it looks like the teacher graded it incorrectly. As a result, we not require submissions that the student cannot edit after submission.

Because of this, I need to remove the "Google file" option for all of my assignments. Ideally, I would love for Agilix to roll back this update and leave the default option File only.

Alternatively, I would love to have the ability to bulk update my assignments to remove the Google file option.

We have over 800 semesters worth of courses (and multiple assignments in each course). We do have students working this summer, but the bulk of our students will be starting in August and September, so to try to go through all of these courses and fix all of these assignments individually in less than a month (subtracting the holiday) is unrealistic--especially because we are still doing other prep for our courses. Even with the bulk update, this is days of "fixing" something that wasn't broken that we don't have, but certainly better than weeks of fixing individual assignments.

Okay, through the instructions you told them not to submit a Google Drive file but in the new experience it just makes it appear more prevalent. Is that right?

If you wish to disable Google Drive for any type of attachment (including student submissions), you can disable the Google Drive integration.

Aw man. I wish I would have asked this question earlier.

Like magic, it's gone.

Thank you thank you, thank you!!

Hey Chad T. Lower, I would love to better understand this.

In the previous version of Buzz, if a teacher allowed a student to attach a "document," the student could have attached any file from their computer or from their Google Drive. In the new version, we provide the option to be more granular and disable the Google Drive option.

To make the transition from the old and new submission experience comparable, if you had previously allowed a student to attach a document, we allow them in the new experience to do it either from their computer or Google Drive. Did you do something to hide the Google Drive option in the previous version? If not, then they would have had the option to select a Google Drive file even though you thought they could only select files from their computer.

Let me know!

In our orientation documentation, we told them that we would not accept Google Docs. If they submitted a Google Doc, we issued a zero and a retry with an explanation to submit in a different format.

With the new format, though, it looks like we are giving them that option again. At a minimum, it looks more blatant with the new look that they can submit either.

(Was there a way to hide the Google Doc in the previous version? We looked and couldn't find any if there were.)
