Updates this week include:

SpeechStream enabled in assessments

As announced last week, we have now enabled SpeechStream for use in assessments! SpeechStream is a text-to-speech tool that reads text aloud to for users.

With SpeechStream enabled, the Activities toolbar displays a Text to speech button for Assignments and Rich-text activity types and can be enabled for Assessments.

Pressing the button (which looks like an ear) hides and shows the SpeechStream toolbar that reads the assignment text aloud using the play button.

Updates

In this release, we:

  • Added a link to the privacy policy from the dropdown menu on the login screen (only relevant to domains configured with a privacy policy).
  • Made security enhancements.

Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where editing attachments in a discussion post would sometimes not preserve the edits.
  • Fixed an issue where administrators could not edit their own blog comments in a course.

APIs

Updates in version 2021.06.17.6277.

Additions:

  • ExamFlags: A new enumeration, AllowSpeechStream, to allow students to use SpeechStream during the assessment. For this to be effective in Buzz, the domain must also be configured to use SpeechStream.

Removal:

  • None

Fixes:

  • GetDomainActivity: Fixed an issue where `courseactivity` may display an enrollment even if 0 seconds were spent in the course. When filtering by time, only enrollments with any time spent should be returned.
  • PutItems: Fixed an issue where a flashcard activity type may not save correctly after removing all flashcards from the activity.
