Updates

Fixes

In this release, we:

  • Fixed an issue where the Print and Cancel buttons wouldn't work when trying to print assessments for students.
  • Added a message that informs students when they've navigated using a course link pointing to an activity that is hidden from them.
  • [Old Activity Player] Fixed an issue where some equations would not correctly render in an assessment with many equations.
  • Updated messages sent to teachers from students to automatically include the course title.
  • Fixed a scrolling issue on mobile devices.
  • Fixed an issue where self-enrolling in a course that hasn't begun yet would incorrectly let you attempt to view the course.
  • Fixed an issue that would not allow graders to assign individual grades to students on group assignments using the student Gradebook
  • Fixed an issue where badges may not have been awarded for the completion of a folder.
  • Fixed an issue where group activities were not correctly displaying group-specific due dates.

APIs

Updates in version 2019.09.11.4043.

  • Item Data: Fixed an issue where a badge aligned to a folder may not award automatically depending upon the structure of the folder.

Is there any way to get back to the old editor?  The new editor will not allow me to copy/paste text into the feedback box unless I paste it as plain text (which removes all of the  formatting). When pasting from another document, the text turns into an image that can't be manipulated which is super frustrating!

Hey Shannon:

What are you copying from? I just tested copying from Microsoft Word and it kept all of the formatting.

Hmm, interesting. I just tested it from OneNote and it maintained the styling (highlight, underline, font color, font style). I would recommend reaching out to your support contact and having them create a ticket with us for us to review your actual file and workflow.

Another teacher here also tried to paste in a rubric from a PDF.  That also pasted in as an image and she could no longer write within it like she used to be able to do...

When I copy and paste from one note, this is what appears in the feedback box.  Sorry for the poor quality.  Had to take a pic with my phone.

Please, please return to the old editor. My review mode for custom assignments only shows blank with scroll arrows now (see picture below) and the missing borders really make grading more confusing. Also, it is honestly hard on my eyes. I am very unhappy with this update. I know white space is good, but the amount of white space now simply means more and more scrolling and more of an eye strain. On the same idea. Is there anyway to get less white space on the gradebook. (the update before the bigger space). Again too much scrolling and sometimes hard to tell what is what because resizing the columns to fit closer together makes the titles not fully show.

If there is no way to go back, please at least fix the review mode issue.

I agree that the missing borders make student answers difficult to see!

Amy, I would love for us to be able to fix that. Can you please have your support contact create a ticket with us so that we can look into it? We have not seen that issue before.

We had a World Language teacher provide us the following feedback:

I updated the LMS to the new version and I am sorry that I did 🙁 Is there anyway to go back to the previous version, lol?

The new version does not include the ability to highlight any more. I used this function in almost all of my comments. I can underline and change the color of the font, but that does not make for easy reading and does not have quite the effect that highlighting does.

Also, now when recording, you can no longer view the feedback while recording. If I wanted to read a list of words to provide pronunciation guidance, I cannot see them. I would have to jot them down or try to memorize them, which is a time suck.

Hey Chad, here is how you do highlighting.

I am also able to see the recorder and the feedback at the same time. Could you expound upon this issue?

Brad, thank you for your quick reply. I will see if I can find out more information.

Did the latest update change any settings for the Activity Stream? One observer is noticing that the Activity Stream display on observed users is more limited than in the past. What is the time frame that the Activity Stream is showing for observers, can it be made to show at least two weeks of activity?

Nothing has changed with the amount of Activity Stream entries. It should continue to show all entries for up to the last 90 days.

So, where should we look if the Activity Stream is not showing the last 90 days? This example of an Activity Stream only shows last Friday.

Hey Burt, there may have been a bug introduced. If you navigate directly to the enrollment's Activity Stream as an admin, are you seeing the same quantity as the observer? How about proxying as the enrollment? If there are differences, then I would strongly encourage you to submit a bug report.

The screenshot in my last post is what is seen by both the student and the observer, so it seems that the Activity Stream is not capturing 90 days for either.

So, I should submit a bug report about the Activity Stream?

We are looking into this. Filing a bug report could help us exchange more details. Thanks!

Teachers are commenting that the teacher feedback editing feature is now missing from the feedback area.  It has been moved to another page after clicking another button.  teachers are saying that this is cumbersome and inefficient, especially teachers who teach multiple sections.  Can the previous method be restored?

A teacher is also reporting that a manual override grade in the grade editor is not sticking when entering it in.  For example, the teacher overrides a 86% with a 93% and it still shows 86% in the grade book area.  thanks.
