  • Updated:

During the summer of 2017, we introduced a new Buzz UI. Since its introduction, we have been accepting user feedback, updating, and polishing it, and on July 12, 2018, all Buzz users will move to the new Buzz UI.

The new Buzz UI provides:

  • A more intuitive user experience built with Google's Material Design.
  • Even more opportunities to customize the tool based on your users' needs and tech literacy.
  • Opportunities to introduce new powerful features as you train your users and their skills and interests develop.

What does this mean?

  • Prior to July 12, 2018
    • Old Buzz UI
      • Can be accessed at https://[your_domain].agilixbuzz.com.
    • New Buzz UI
      • Can be accessed at https://[your_domain].next.agilixbuzz.com.
  • On and after July 12, 2018
    • Old Buzz UI
      • Is no longer available.
      • Users accessing the old Buzz UI’s URL will see the new Buzz UI.
    • New Buzz UI
      • Can be accessed at the same URL you have previously used for the old Buzz UI: https://[your_domain].agilixbuzz.com.
      • NOTE: If you tried the new Buzz UI earlier using https://[your_domain].next.agilixbuzz.com, we recommend you update to https://[your_domain].agilixbuzz.com. The “next” URLs will not be deactivated immediately, but may change in the future without notice.

What should I do?

Agilix will make the change to the new Buzz UI for all users. You do not need to do anything to receive these changes. However, to minimize any disruption, we strongly encourage all organizations to prepare for the changes by:

If you are using the old Buzz UI

Try out the new Buzz UI

Since releasing the new Buzz UI, we have been collecting feedback and making improvements. Testing out the new UI is easy. Simply update your domain URL by replacing agilixbuzz.com with next.agilixbuzz.com, like this:

  • Old Buzz UI: https://[your_domain].agilixbuzz.com
  • New Buzz UI: https://[your_domain].next.agilixbuzz.com

Browse through your courses, test the different types of content, and try out your custom tools. Make sure that everything works as expected.

The new Buzz UI requires HTTPS

While Buzz has always transmitted user information securely using HTTPS, once we switch all users to the new UI, we will transfer everything using HTTPS. In part, this is a response to changes browsers will be making this summer to improve security for everyone.

This means that any embedded content (custom activity pointing to another website) will need to be have secured URLs (those using https:// rather than http://) to display without further user action. If you try to open an insecure content, a blank page will load and your browser will display a shield icon that you can click for more information and to allow the insecure content to load.

As part of preparing for the switch to the new UI, we recommend you test your content URLs and try to update insecure addresses by manually changing http:// to https://. This won’t work for all URLs, but will work in some instances.

If your content does not support HTTPS, we recommend reaching out to the content provider and inquire about their plans for supporting HTTPS.

If you are using the new Buzz UI

Update URLs

If you have links in a third-party system (e.g., SIS, school website) or in a custom tools built into Buzz, prepare to change them to the new URL (https://[your_domain].agilixbuzz.com).

If you have any problems or questions, please contact your system admin, Agilix account manager, or Agilix Support.

If you are using BrainHoney

Migrate to Buzz

BrainHoney will no longer be supported after August 30, 2018. All organizations using BrainHoney should have an active plan to fully migrate to Buzz. For more information, see All BrainHoney users to move to Buzz by August 2018.

If you have any problems or questions, please contact your system admin, Agilix account manager, or Agilix Support.

When is this change being made?  We have been using the new UI for a year now with "next" in our URL.  We are now halfway through our school day here and when we try the URL without next in it, it is still the old UI.  We would like to get this taken care of ASAP...there are only about 2 hours left in our work day.

We know it is today and we have been waiting...it appears you did not plan for those of us on EST unfortunately.  If this change if happening during your regular release times, that is after our work day is over...can this be changed so we can reflect that change in all of our URLs before we are done for the day?  You have stated that the old URLs will no longer work so we need to make those changes...

I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
After the change users may still use the .next in their URL. We encourage our users to make the necessary changes expressed in this article as it may change in the future without notice. This concern was discussed in a ticket submitted to Support by RCSD on April 9th 2018.
We are not able to alter the timeline as it will be a system wide event.
