A round-up of all improvements and changes to the Buzz platform in version 2.0.58, available on July 14, 2016.

Print assessments for students to complete

There are various reasons you may want to allow students to complete an assessment using paper, including providing them with an Individualized Education Program (IEP) in alignment with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). With some systems, printing an assessment means losing the ability to track student attempts, randomize questions, and take advantage of automated test analytics that an LMS provides.

Buzz's new printable assessments allow you to offer a printed option without losing these benefits.

Other updates

  • Accessibility: Many updates were made to the Student and other apps to improve accessibility for users with a visual impairment. While many of the updates were under-the-hood, users may notice improved keyboard navigation throughout multiple tools and slight style changes to selected and focussed buttons and menu options.
  • Teachers:
    • Added full text editor toolbar to Rich-Text Activities.
    • Added a checkbox that allows teachers to Include activity history or hide it when viewing the Score/Activity History tab of the Activity Grader and Grade Editor.
    • Updated the states for the For Me, Unit Summary, and Mastery tabs to allow users to use back and next navigation buttons and refresh.

Editor (beta) updates

As part of our continual efforts to improve the new Editor tool, we:

  • Added the ability to restore questions, content, and rubrics to activities using the History tab of each acivity editor.
  • Added an Edit button for HTML files in the resource selector windows. To access it, users must select the upload file icon in resource fields.
  • Updated the rich text editor embed options. When embedding content in an activity, the available tabs have been updated from Code, URL, and Resource to Code, Website, and Course Resource for consistency with the Custom Activity options. In both places where domains are integrated with Google Drive, Google documents are now also presented as an option for embedding.

Fixed issues

  • Fixed an issue where email sent to observers using the Clipboard tool was not being delivered.
  • Fixed an issue where the email To field would not allow the user to send email to all students in more than one class at a time.
  • Revised the Communication tool so that, when a user deletes an announcement, the announcement is removed without forcing the user to refresh the browser.
  • Fixed an issue where custom menu items would not align to match the standard menu items.
  • Fixed an issue where, when a student completed an assesment, the scoring information would not appear until the user had navigated away from the assessment and then back to it.

Editor (beta) fixes

As part of our continual efforts to improve the new Editor tool, we:

  • Fixed an issue where users could drag and drop badges and objectives from the folders or activities that they were already assigned to, causing browser issues. Users remove badges and objectives by clicking X.
  • Added an alert to inform users when Google won't allow files to appear in the Activities tool and a prompt to allow them to open the file in a new window.
  • Fixed an issue where, when trying to link a question to an assessment or homework activity, the user was not pointed to a default domain, leaving the course list empty.
  • Fixed an issue where custom questions rendered on an external server wouldn't run in Buzz.
  • Fixed an issue where activity template titles on the Add activity screen would overlap each other instead of wrapping.
  • Fixed an issue where users would not see the confirmation dialogue when trying to close the activity editor without saving their changes.
