How do I add course templates to my domain?

Teachers and content authors can use course templates to:

  • Create a new course, bringing everything from the template course into the new course you created. Use it "as-is," or use it as a starting point and make it your own.
  • Import gradebook settings. You can pick and choose which gradebook settings you'd like to import and use in a course.

Create the template

To create a template, you create a course as you would any other, and then Add the template to your domain (see section below). Users don't need a subscription to use templates.

Add the template to your domain

  1. Open the vertical menu in the toolbar of Domain Details.
  2. Select Domain Settings.
  1. Click Add on the Course Templates card and provide:
    • The Order of appearance if there are multiple templates ("0" = top placement).
    • The template Title.
    • The name and ID of the course you want to use as a template; click the list (browse) icon to choose from available courses.
  2. Save.

Notes

On clicking Save, after adding a course for activity templates, the chosen course is set to Public so all course authors can access it. To reverse this:

  1. Open the Courses tool.
  2. Select the desired course.
  3. Uncheck the Public box.
  4. Save.
