Generate Gradebook Reports to get a high-level perspective on student performance as it relates to activities.

Gradebook Reports are organized around individual activities or activity categories and time periods.

To run Gradebook Reports, open Reports from the Main Menu, select Gradebook, and follow the numbered steps:

  1. Choose a report: Click one of the following radio buttons to specify report type:
    • Select Course activity summary if you want to see the data broken down at the activity level.
    • Select Period and category summary to see the data broken down by pre-determined grading periods and categories.
  1. Choose a course: Enter or browse to the desired course.
  1. Filter the data: Customize your filter settings in one of the following ways:
    • Indicate whether you want to Include past enrollments in the report.
    • Select Choose Filters (which allows you to choose from the most commonly used data), or select Get All Data (which includes all data).
  1. Download the report: Click Export to CSV to create the specified report as a spreadsheet-friendly file.

Use this report to identify which activities may need to be reevaluated, revised, cut, enhanced, etc., in upcoming classes.

Tips

  • You can open the exported document with any program that supports spreadsheets.
  • If a majority of students regularly perform poorly on a specific activity, that activity likely needs to be reviewed.

Is there any way to run reports on all student users that show ACTIVE/WITHDRAWN/COMPLETE within a date range? I really need global data for the entire domain, not individual courses.

Is there a way to run a report that shows current grade average?

Hello Heather,

At this time it is not possible to run a report on all students, rather it needs to be done on a course by course basis. We'll add this feature to the list of options to investigate for further report updates.

@Cheryl, sort of. The Gradebook Report can return averages per category. The default Buzz course has only one gradable category. So, if you exported the category summary and there was only one category in the course, then the category is the current grade average.

Otherwise, you can use the multiple categories to determine the current grade average.
