How do I link to or copy content from another course?

Sharing approved content between courses and teachers is easy with Buzz.

Enable a course to be shared

If you have permission to borrow content from another course, the owner of that course (teacher, course author, etc.,) may have to enable that access for you. To do so, they would:

  1. Open the Editor and click Settings in the toolbar.
  2. Check the Include course in subscriber search index box on the Publisher options card.
  3. Save.
Enable a course to be shared

Access shared course

Copying content between courses not only saves you from having to recreate identical activities, but it also allows you to easily collaborate with colleagues.

To use content from another course:

  1. Open the Editor for the course you want to copy content into.
  2. Select and expand the folder you want to add content to.
  3. Click the Add to ... button at the bottom of the folder and select Library.
Access shared course
  1. Select the domain from which you want to copy content; to browse content from your own courses, select your domain.
  2. Select the desired items and folders.
  3. Once you’ve selected all of the content, you can select:
    • Link to Activity to allow the items to be accessed, but not edited in the new course. Linked content reflects updates made to the content source.
    • Copy Activity to create a static copy of the content. Copied content is fully editable, but receives no updates.

  • Using the Create Link option can save significant time when revising activities; simply, build the activity once, create links to other courses, and every revision is automatically reflected.

I have followed this process but cannot access the course materials I am looking for.  I subscribed to the course, and still cannot see the course in the library.  The course I am trying to copy into is course ID 46690621.  I am trying to copy from course ID 25066892.  Where am I going wrong?

Hello Celeste!

Within the course settings, enabling the setting "Include course in subscriber search index" box under Sharing resolved not being able to search course content.

For the future, Agilix has added documentation regarding turning on that setting as a necessary step at the top of this document page to assists users with sharing course content.

Thank you for bringing this to Agilix's attention!

I'm having this same problem.  i have created 2 courses in Buzz and I would like to share assignments, rubrics, and sometimes entire units between the two course but I don't see the setting mentioned above.

I am able to make this work with a single domain.  The issue I am having is when I try this at a subdomain.  The course I created and add to the search index will not show up at the subdomain for me.  I am thinking it might have to do with licensing subscriptions but not sure...can you assist with this?

Thanks Augie

Hello Augie,

To really diagnose the behavior for you would require taking a look at your user permissions and how the subscriptions are set up, please pass this question along to your authorized support contact to investigate.

One thing to look out for is if you have a separate user account for the subdomain that would not have access to the information for your user account in the parent domain.
