A round-up of all improvements and changes to the Buzz platform in versions 2.0.131 and 3.0.29, available on November 30, 2017.

Updates

Google Team Drives

In this release, we improved the Google document picker to show Google Folders and added a Team Drive tab.

U.S. state and national objectives

Buzz has been updated with the latest U.S.state and national objectives, as provided by the Achievement Standards Network (ASN). To receive the new or updated objectives, course authors will have to import/reimport the desired objectives into their course. Buzz will sync objectives from ASN on a regular basis beginning this week.

Note

This update applies only to Buzz users in the Agilix-hosted environment.

Fixes

In this release, we:

  • Fixed an issue where the scores for activities without titles couldn't be exported.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the application to hang if a user tried to create groups without specifying the number of students per group. It now defaults to one person per group.
  • Fixed an issue where the final grades editor tool displayed the wrong period scores if you had added some periods to your course but then deleted any period but the last one.

New Buzz UI

During the summer of 2017, we released a new Buzz UI, giving you the same features and functionality with a cleaner, simpler user experience!

The release notes in this section pertain only to those using the new Buzz UI.

New Buzz UI highlights

Automated scheduling updates

As previously announced, Buzz is now able to automatically update due dates, activity visibility dates, and grade release dates when you create a new course copy! These updates are based on the new course's start date; if the new course's start date is 3 months later than the course you copied, all other dates will be pushed 3 months as well.

Setting this up is as simple as checking a box when you copy the course.

Domain-level Grading Periods

In this release, we enabled domain-level Grading Periods for your courses to use. When courses are mapped to the school year and Grading Period defined by the domain, teachers and students can filter the content and grades they see according the the current year and period.

Enabling domain-level Grading Periods adds a dropdown menu to the toolbar of the following screens where you can filter by Grading Period:

Would this "Automated scheduling updates" take the domain "Black out Dates" into consideration? Also, IF we change the Start date and end date of a course, would this automatically move the scheduling as well?

No, this does not take into consideration blackout dates. Blackout dates are only used in continuous enrollment courses, where all target/due dates are automatically generated.

As of today, no, adjusting a course's start/end dates does not adjust activity dates. However, this is a good enhancement suggestion. Thank you!

Taking the Black out dates into consideration would also help considerably! Thank you!
