During the summer of 2017, we released a new Buzz UI, giving you the same features and functionality with a cleaner, simpler user experience!

The features covered in this article are only included in the new Buzz UI. If you don't know which version you are using, review the differences and/or contact your system admin or Agilix account manager.

You can set up domain-level Grading Periods for courses in your domain to map to. To do so, you must define a school year for the domain, create Grading Periods within that school year, and then select the current year and Grading Period for the domain.

When new courses are created in that domain, they will automatically use these settings.

Create Grading Periods for your domain

  1. Open the side menu in Domain > Details.
  2. Select Edit Settings.
  1. Click Add on the School Years and Grading Periods card.
  1. Define your School year by providing:
    • A Title for the school year.
    • Start Date and End Date for the school year.
  2. Click Add to create new Grading periods and define them by providing:
    • A Title
    • Start Date
    • End Date
  3. Click Done and Save your Domain settings.

Enabling domain-level Grading Periods adds a dropdown menu to the toolbar of the following screens where you can filter by Grading Period:

Choose current Grading Period for your domain

Once they're created, Admins must select the current Grading Period for the domain at the beginning of each new Grading Period, so Buzz courses can track data accurately.

  1. Open the side menu in Domain > Details.
  2. Select Edit Settings.
  1. On the School years and grading periods card, open the Current grading period dropdown and select the desired period. All of the courses in your domain use this setting as their default, so you want to make sure you make the change at the beginning of each Grading Period and coordinate the change with schools where necessary.
  1. When a Current grading period is selected, you can indicate whether you want courses to Enable weighted periods and final course score. The Course Score is calculated by rolling up all of the Grading Period scores in a course into one overall score.
    • When this box is unchecked, students and teachers can see individual Grading Period scores, but never seen them combined as a Course Score.
    • When this box is checked, students and teachers have access to both the Grading Period scores and a Course Score. With this option selected, Buzz shows editable Grading Period weights in the Teacher app Editor.
  2. Save.
