A round-up of all improvements and changes to the Buzz platform in versions 2.0.122 and 3.0.19, available on September 28, 2017.

Updates

In this release, we added a new filter option to User Activity > Enrollment Activity Details report: Exclude overlapping time.

With this box checked, the User Activity report will only display unique time spent in the courses. So, for example, if the user opens up one activity in one window and another activity in another window, their time spent in the new report will not be doubled; only the time for one of the sessions will be reported.

Fixed issues

In this release, we:

  • Updated Discussion activities, so that the expand and collapse buttons don't appear in posts right after they've been made.
  • Fixed an avatar display issue in Discussion activities.
  • Updated Teacher app > People tool > Manage Enrollment functionality so that inactive users no longer appear available for enrollment in courses.
  • Fixed an issue that would cause an activity assigned from the Clipboard to be duplicated when moving it from the top level of a choice folder to a folder within.
  • Improved validation performance regarding items being moved between folders.
  • Fixed an issue where the Performance/Gradebook > Student screen was not displaying the correct Time Spent on an activity for students when a teacher had any scores pending.

New Buzz UI

During the summer of 2017, we released a new Buzz UI, giving you the same features and functionality with a cleaner, simpler user experience!

The release notes in this section pertain only to those using the new Buzz UI.

New Buzz UI highlights

Buzz's new Activity Editor is here!

Introducing Buzz's new Activity Editor UI!

  • Easier, more intuitive organization and navigation
  • Sleeker, more responsive design
  • Improved performance
  • Additional functionality

Some cards in the Activity Editors are collapsed by default; to expand them, click the arrows.

Each activity type has its own editor:

The new editor UI is only available for users using the new Buzz UI. If you have any questions, please contact support and/or your account manager.

We're excited for you to try it out!

Introducing Content Templates in Buzz!

Content Templates let authors create activities using javascript tools (e.g., TextHelp, MathJax) with fields that can be shared, opened, and edited using Buzz's rich text editor.

This allows teachers and other authors to use and easily make changes to these activities without losing formatting and functionality, or having to learn an external tool (or programming language).

New Buzz UI updates

In this release, we:

  • Removed disable animations as an option in user settings. In-app animations are designed to improve the user experience for all users.
  • Enabled Google Project Fi as a new SMS notification carrier option.
